Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center presents

Tomáš Kubínek – Certified Lunatic and Master of the Impossible

Sunday March 23rd at 3pm

Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for children

Click to order Tickets

This event is something the whole family can enjoy. Tomáš Kubínek kicks performance art into super drive with physical absurdity, verbal wit and sheer cosmic silliness that has delighted audiences worldwide. He’s a Vaudevillian, visual poet and comic genius and The New York Times calls him “Absolutely expert and consistently charming.” Mr. Kubínek’s award-winning solo show offers up an exuberant dose of theatre, hilarity and humanity. Join Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center and welcome Tomáš Kubínek. For ages 6 to 106.

An Interview with Tomáš Kubínek

1.) The most common description of you is “Certified Lunatic and Master of the Impossible….” but how would you describe yourself? Fool, clown, visual poet, solo performance artist, multi-talented vaudevillan, comic genius and charming huckster.

2.) What, exactly, do you do? your career has been so varied, how would you describe it? I’m a rare type of actor and comedian who uses every trick in the book to charm, transport, move and elicit laughter from, an audience. The performance is unique and personal in that I am simultaneously author, director and performer in every moment being created before the public’s very eyes.

3.) Is it possible to tell me where your inspirations come from(I know that’s a difficult question…) Mainly inspiration comes from constantly rediscovering what a miracle it is that we exist and how beautiful and fragile it all is.
“Hilarious and enormously talented”. Time Out – London

Our Hamlet Historian, Richard Hull, maintains that Sugar Loaf is a state of mind. By examining the hamlet’s history from its inception to the present day, he points out repeatedly how the United States was built from small communities such as this one; no matter what the hardship we soldier on through thick and thin, by adjusting to what necessity calls for.
What I do observe since the hamlet’s revival in the 6o’s to the Artisan village it is now, is longevity. Indeed, many have been here well over 30 years, some about to celebrate their 40th anniversary, others their 25th or 15th; we held fast and adapted to an ever changing economy. Sugar Loaf may be a State of Mind, what is for sure is that it is a Tradition and in the words of so many customers: ” It is worth the trip!”.
