An indoor and outdoor – Sculpture exhibition by Mark Hauge

Mark Hauge, local sculptor and educator will be demonstrating chain saw carving techniques at his closing reception at Bertoni Gallery located at 1392 Kings Highway, Sugar Loaf, NY, November 16, from 2-5 pm when you can meet and speak with the artist. Mark showcases his collection of outdoor and indoor pieces that represent the harmonious struggle between mankind and the natural world. Mark’s interest in collecting artifacts and creating assemblages has been with him since childhood. His sculptures go beyond the confines of reality.

Walk through the Bertoni Gallery outdoor Sculpture garden and fall in love with Marks majestic stone and mixed-media structures, abstracting and discussing with the viewer his theme of The Organic Perspective, or take enjoyment in the subtle humor in his chainsaw carvings. Once in a semi-euphoric state of mind from wandering through thought provoked by the sculpture in the garden, come inside and view Mark’s indoor pieces, encompassing many different media. Much of Marks indoor work is organic in nature as well, soft and representational, complimenting his outdoor selection.

If weather is not permitting the chain saw demonstration Mark will focus on clay techniques and lecture inside the gallery. Mark has also begun a selection of caricature portrait sculptures of family, friends and neighbors making unique 3D caricatures reminiscent of the traditional Norwegian trolls.
