Sugar Loaf Community Foundation
Jun 10th, 2010 | By admin | Category: UncategorizedThe Sugar Loaf Community Foundation (SLCF) was founded over 30 years ago as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit corporation and still carries on the tradition of supporting programs and projects that enhance the quality of life of our unique hamlet. The constitution of the foundation prescribes the following objectives: To research, record and publicize this history and lore of the hamlet of Sugar Loaf. To foster interest in the richness and diversity of Sugar Loaf’s cultural heritage and to sponsor activities which further this heritage. To encourage the traditions and approaches to the arts and crafts movement; to provide opportunities for the public to view high quality arts and crafts. To maintain a spirit of cooperate effort to preserve and enhance the aesthetic beauty of the hamlet of Sugar Loaf. To endeavor to work toward the promotion and benefit of Sugar Loaf and the surrounding area.
The Sugar Loaf Community Foundation (SLCF) invites you to support these objectives and actions by becoming a member or by making a charitable contribution that will fund programs for the community.

Last year, the foundation sponsored and organized the following activities and projects: A free lecture on the history of Sugar Loaf, presented by Dr. Richard Hull at the Pavilion in the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center. The December Holiday Festival with tree lighting, horse-drawn wagon rides, visit with Santa Claus for the kids, carolers, and treats and refreshments in the Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church, all at no cost to participants. Planters and pole banners, which are now decorating our main street and celebrating our culture, sponsored by the Community Vision Committee. Since 2002 the SLCF Vision Committee has worked to address infrastructure and zoning issues in the hamlet and created a preliminary master plan with the help of SUNY Albany.
